Cazimi is one of three conditions that describe a planet's nearness to the Sun, and the most fortunate of them. A planet is cazimi when it sits within about seventeen arcminutes of an exact conjunction with the Sun, a tiny fraction of a degree, in what tradition calls the heart of the Sun. The word comes from an Arabic phrase meaning in the heart. A planet this close to the Sun would ordinarily be burned and lost in its glare, yet at the exact center the effect reverses. A cazimi planet is taken into the Sun's protection and raised up, enthroned rather than overwhelmed, and the matters it governs can shine with unusual clarity and strength. The condition is rare, since the planet must sit almost exactly on the Sun. A cazimi planet in a birth chart marks a strikingly empowered point. Its work is to make the most of that rare clarity, expressing its nature at full and confident strength.
