Leo

Leo, the fifth sign of the zodiac, is a fixed fire sign ruled by the Sun and pictured as the Lion. It carries the energy of self-expression and warmth, the wish to create, to be seen, and to give from an open heart. The Sun moves through Leo from roughly July 23 to August 22. Where Leo appears in a chart is where a person wants to shine, to lead, and to pour themselves generously into what they make. At its best the Leo temperament is confident, warm, loyal, and creative. It brings color and encouragement to others, takes pride in its work, and stays steady in its affections. Turned sour, that same pride swells into arrogance, vanity, a need for constant praise, and a temper when the spotlight moves elsewhere. Leo rules the heart and spine, and its key phrase is "I will." Its work is to root confidence in real self-respect, so it can lead and create without depending on applause to feel worthy.
