Lot of Eros

The Lot of Eros is one of the Arabic lots, the calculated points concerned with desire and attraction. It is drawn from three factors, the Ascendant together with Venus and the Lot of Spirit, and like the other lots its formula reverses between day and night births. Its classical planet is Venus, the natural ruler of love and longing. By sign, the Lot of Eros describes the style of a person's passion and what they find magnetic. By house, it shows the area of life where desire feels most alive, where a person seeks intensity, longing, and the pull toward something or someone. It speaks to attraction at a deeper level than ordinary liking. Eros covers more than romance. It is the energy of wanting itself, the pull toward whatever makes a person feel fully alive, which can include creative and spiritual longing as much as love. The work of the Lot of Eros is to know what genuinely awakens desire and to follow that longing with awareness rather than being driven by it.
