Mutable

Mutable is one of the three modalities, the mode of adaptation. Its signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces, and they fall at the close of each season, as one gives way to the next. They carry the energy of flexibility, adjustment, and transition, meeting circumstances rather than forcing them. Mutable signs are the adapters of the zodiac. Each mutable sign adjusts in the style of its element. Gemini shifts through ideas and communication, Virgo through analysis and refinement, Sagittarius through exploration and belief, and Pisces through feeling and imagination. What they share is versatility and an ease with whatever the moment brings. The strength of mutable energy is adaptability, openness, and the knack for handling several things at once. Its shadow is a lack of steadiness, which can show up as restlessness, indecision, or energy scattered in too many directions. A chart heavy in mutable signs gives a person who is flexible and responsive but may struggle to commit or hold a course. The work of mutable energy is to stay adaptable without losing focus.
