Outer Planets

The Outer Planets. Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are the outer planets, also called the generational planets. They move so slowly that they stay in a sign for years at a time, which means everyone born within the same span of years shares the same outer-planet signs. For this reason their sign placement describes a whole generation more than a single person. Each one works on a deep, collective level. Uranus brings change, freedom, and sudden awakening. Neptune brings dreams, spirituality, and the dissolving of boundaries. Pluto brings power, death, and far-reaching transformation. They are the forces that reshape cultures over decades and stir the deepest currents in a life. These planets become personal in two main ways: through the house they occupy, which grounds their themes in a specific area of life, and through close aspects to the personal planets or the angles. When an outer planet touches a personal point in this way, its vast, impersonal energy presses directly on the individual, often marking the most intense and transformative areas of the chart.
