Transits

Transits are the positions of the planets in the sky at any given moment, and the aspects they make to the planets and points in a person's natal chart. While the natal chart stays fixed, the real planets keep moving, and as they form aspects to natal placements they activate different parts of the chart. Transits are the most widely used forecasting tool in astrology. A transit describes what is happening for a person now or at any chosen date. Fast-moving bodies like the Moon, Mercury, and Venus bring brief, day-to-day influences, while the slow outer planets, Saturn through Pluto, mark major chapters that can last months or years. A transit of Saturn to the Sun, for instance, often coincides with a period of serious effort and growing up. Transits are read by noting which natal placement is being contacted, by which transiting planet, and through which aspect. This shows both the area of life involved and the quality of the period.
