Trine

The trine is the aspect formed when two planets sit one hundred and twenty degrees apart, a third of the way around the chart. It links planets in signs of the same element, two fire signs or two water signs, so their energies share a nature and run together without resistance. Tradition counts the trine as the most harmonious aspect, and it does feel like grace: a place where something simply works. Ease is also the catch. A trine asks for no effort, so the talent it gives can go unnoticed, taken for granted while a person struggles with harder parts of the chart. Moon trine Venus gives an easy warmth and charm that a person barely registers as a gift. Sun trine Jupiter lends a natural confidence and good timing that can turn into coasting if it is never tested. What flows freely is easy to waste. A trine tends to be the easiest thing in a chart, and so the easiest to overlook. Its work is to notice these gifts and put them to use rather than leaning on them and letting them idle.
