Under the Beams

Under the beams is one of three conditions that describe a planet's nearness to the Sun, and the mildest of them. A planet is under the beams when it sits within about fifteen to seventeen degrees of the Sun, close enough to be dimmed by its light but not swallowed by it. A planet under the beams is obscured rather than overpowered. Its energy is softened by the Sun's brightness without being burned away, so the matters it governs may be a little harder to see clearly or express fully. A person may sense that part of themselves works quietly in the background, present but not quite in the light. The effect is gentle and easily recovered, easing further as the planet draws away from the Sun. The work of a planet under the beams is to bring its slightly hidden energy into the open, giving deliberate attention to something that otherwise stays half in shadow.
