A Yod is an aspect pattern sometimes called the Finger of Fate. It is made of two planets in sextile that are both connected to a third planet by a quincunx, an awkward angle of one hundred and fifty degrees. On the chart it forms a long, narrow triangle that points toward the third planet at its tip, the apex.
A Yod carries a sense of mission or destiny, often felt as a nagging pull toward something a person cannot quite ignore. The apex planet is the focal point, and it sits in an uneasy relationship with the other two, since the quincunx links planets that have little in common and must constantly adjust to each other. This creates a feeling of tension that resists easy resolution.
People with a Yod often sense they are meant to do something specific, even if it takes years to understand what. The apex shows where this calling concentrates and where repeated fine-tuning is needed. The work of a Yod is to keep adjusting toward its purpose rather than forcing it, allowing the pattern's meaning to reveal itself over time.
